Call for Paper – Issue One, Volume One, January 2022

Introduction

Future Journal of Social Science (FJSS) is a journal based at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science – Future University in Egypt. It aims at providing a platform for scholars and researchers to publish their original work, in English, in discussing and analyzing current affairs, research and methodological problematics. FJSS aims at presenting, through the scholarship published, a diverse range of enriching questions of an interdisciplinary nature through the field of social science.

FJSS is published through the Association for Arab Universities (AARU). FJSS is planned to be published twice annually online. In light of our interdisciplinary focus within social science, and on behalf of our editorial board, it is our pleasure to announce the call for papers for our first volume and issue due January 2022, and to welcome all interested scholars and researchers to contribute to the FJSS platform.

Submission of Papers

FJSS welcomes all original papers written in English, engaging in the analysis of topic, problematic or questions in the field of social science, while focusing on presenting this in an interdisciplinary manner. While interdisciplinary research is our focus and aim, we still welcome manuscripts that give more weight to one or more of FEPS’ major specializations: economics, political science, public administration, and political mass media. Submitted papers can tackle their chosen topics on either, or several, of the following levels of analysis:

  1. As per Geographical focus:
    1. Regional affairs
    2. International affairs
    3. National affairs
  2. As per study approach:
    1. Theoretical study and analysis
    2. Empirical/ experimental study and analysis
  3. As per time:
    1. Historical study
    2. Current affairs

FJSS invites submission on the following themes (submissions on other topics are also encouraged):

  1. Pandemics, their histories and impacts
  2. Changes in economic dynamics, economic policies, and socio-economic analysis
  3. Shifts in the international political/economic system, international politics/ international economics and changes in roles of international organizations
  4. Gender, identity (-ies), ethnicity, refugees and migration, and xenophobia
  5. Emotions, Psychological Analysis
  6. Media and social networking
  7. Geopolitics and national security
  8. Urban shifts, understanding of cities, and public space
  9. Issues on development (economic, social, and political)
  10. Roles and changes of public policy

Abstract and Paper Submissions

Interested applicants should send an abstract of 500 words maximum by 30.06.2021 to FJSS’s editorial office email . All abstracts will undergo a screening and selection process by the Editor-in-Chief and the Assistant Editor. Authors of accepted abstracts will be contacted by mid-July. Your abstract must cover the following elements:

  1. motivation for the research topic and its significance;
  2. research problem of engagement;
  3. clarification of the central research problem;
  4. prime texts and methodical/methodological tools used;
  5. expected findings and challenges.

Authors contacted for accepted abstracts, will be expected to submit their full manuscript no later than September 15, 2021, after which it will enter our peer-reviewing process (see here for more information by selecting ‘peer-review’ from the panel). Your paper should be uploaded on our website, through the submissions option (click here). Your manuscript should not exceed 10000 words (check our website for the Author Guidelines).

Please note: While FJSS is published online, and hence the page-count is a lesser challenge, we would still appreciate it if the manuscript is kept as close as possible to the indicated word-count to speed up the peer-reviewing process.

The papers must clearly include the following elements:

  1. Abstract
  2. Keywords (between 5-8)
  3. Clear handling of the chosen topic through the subsections of the paper
  4. Conclusion
  5. Reference List

Note: FJSS uses the APA citation style, and we use in-text citation accompanied by the reference list. Footnotes may be used only in the case of needed clarifications, complimenting the text of the paper.
