Abstract

Climate change is a significant global issue of the 21st century, disproportionately affecting

developing countries despite their minimal contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. This

discrepancy has brought climate justice to the forefront as an important concept, emphasizing

equitable support and protection for vulnerable populations. Concurrently, blockchain

technology, combined with green strategies, offers potential solutions to enhance transparency,

efficiency, and accountability in various sectors, including climate justice and displacement

management. This research hypothesizes that the integration of blockchain technology with

green strategies can lead to enhanced climate justice, and more effective displacement

management, and provide a model for developing countries like Egypt to address climate change

and promote sustainable development.

The study compares the implementation and impact of these technologies in Egypt, a developing

country with significant climate-induced displacement challenges, and Germany, a developed

nation with advanced technological infrastructure and established climate policies, from 2010 to

2024. By analyzing the German case, the research aims to uncover the benefits, challenges, and

best practices that can be adopted by developing countries. The findings are expected to

positively prove the hypothesis, offering valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners.

The methodology involves qualitative data collection and analysis, including semi-structured

interviews and focus group discussions with experts, alongside a review of relevant literature,

studies, and reports. The research applies the Technological Innovation Systems (TIS) approach

to analyze how blockchain technology has been integrated within green strategies in both

countries, and Climate Justice Theory to assess the equity impacts of these strategies on climate

justice and displacement management. A Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) will identify

patterns across both countries, contributing to the broader discourse on technological innovation

in climate action.
