Abstract

This study investigates and analyzes Ibn Al-Adim's book entitled "Al-Insaf wa Tahari fi Dafa' Al-Dhulm wa Al-Tajari 'an Abi Al-Alaa Al-Ma'arri" (588-660 H). This source is the only available classified book dedicated to discussing the controversial issue raised by early critics regarding Abi Al-Alaa Al-Ma'arri's doctrine. However, the loss of some parts of the book hinders confirming with certainty whether Ibn Al-Adim achieved his objectives in writing this book. Yet, the parts we have confirm the author's positive attitude toward Al-Ma'arri's faith and ensure the validity of his religious beliefs. In this book, Ibn Al-Adim also responds to several suspicions surrounding Al-Ma'arri's Islamic faith.
