Abstract
The current study aimed to identify social cohesion among basketball players from the perspective of coaches in the Companies League for the year 2019, considering the variables of the number of years of training and the number of training courses completed by the coach. The study was conducted on a sample of 20 coaches, representing the total population. A measure designed by the researchers was applied to assess the social cohesion of the team from the coaches' viewpoint. The researchers employed a descriptive approach for the survey, and the SPSS program was used to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that the factors of team instructions and regulations, meeting individual needs, and the personal appeal of individuals within the group (personal factors) are the most influential in fostering cohesion within the sports team, according to the coaches. There were no statistically significant differences at the α ≤ 0.05 level in the responses of the two groups of coaches regarding all factors and items in the study instrument, indicating no significant differences between the responses from both groups. The researchers also recommended promoting the establishment of team instructions and regulations, addressing individual needs, and enhancing the appeal of individuals within the group (personal factors) due to their significant positive impact on the cohesion of the sports team.
