Abstract

This study aimed to identify the degree of awareness of the concept of citizenship among students at Yarmouk University from the students' perspective. The study adopted the descriptive survey method. The researchers prepared a questionnaire to measure the degree of students' awareness of the concept of citizenship, which consisted of 19 items. The study population included all Yarmouk University students, totaling 38,008 male and female students, while the study sample comprised 503 male and female students chosen through a convenience sampling method. The results of the study showed that the degree of awareness of the concept of citizenship among Yarmouk University students was high. The findings revealed statistically significant differences in the degree of awareness of the concept of citizenship based on the variable of gender, favoring females. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences based on the variable of college, favoring the College of Human and Social Psychology. However, the results indicated that there were no significant differences attributed to the variable of academic level. The study recommends that Yarmouk University continue to enhance its role in fostering a sense of national belonging among students by enriching study plans with courses that promote the values of good citizenship.
