Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate the level of perceived social support among battered Syrian refugee women. To achieve the aims of the study, a descriptive survey approach was used, employing the perceived social support scale, which had been verified for validity and reliability. The sample consisted of 300 battered Syrian refugee women. The findings revealed that the level of perceived social support was at an average level across all domains and the total score. Furthermore, there were no significant statistical differences in the domains of perceived social support related to years of marriage, nature of residence, and type of abuse among the women. Similarly, there were no significant statistical differences in the “encouraging others” domain related to monthly income. However, the findings showed significant statistical differences in the domains of social support network, emotional support, financial support, and evaluative support attributed to the monthly income variable. Based on these findings, the study made several recommendations, such as providing programs that explain methods of social support and how to utilize these programs effectively.
