Abstract
The study aims to identify the most prominent militarized seas and how they have become hot spots in the conflict among major powers (America, Russia and China), the justifications for the competition over them, and to clarify the repercussions of the militarization of the seas and the complexity of the conflict among these major powers on the contemporary international system. Both the descriptive analytical method and the systems analysis method were used to study the subject. The study concluded that the pursuit of militarizing the seas by the great powers has turned them into hot spots, potentially bringing international relations to a security dilemma, especially given the shift in the balance of naval power witnessed in the third millennium, led by these major powers. This development indicates an escalation of the dangers posed by the militarization of the seas to the contemporary international system. Accordingly, the study recommends the necessity of securing a peaceful international environment, where multipolarity represents cooperative pluralism to achieve global concord based on the principles of justice and equality, to prevent the outbreak of wars that threaten international peace and security.
