Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the degree to which secondary school principals in Ajloun Governorate practice moral values considering Islamic educational thought, from the perspectives of randomly selected teachers. The study sample consisted of 311 male and female teachers who were randomly selected, and personal interviews were conducted. The descriptive analytical technique was employed, and a questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection. The study findings indicated that school principals practice Islamic moral values to a moderate extent. The findings also showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the level of statistical significance (α = 0.05) in the average responses of the study sample because of years of experience and academic qualification. However, there were statistically significant differences (α = 0.05) due to gender in all fields and the overall score of the study questionnaire, favoring females. The results of the interviews with the study sample revealed that school principals uphold a significant number of moral principles and values of all kinds, although various moral standards exist depending on the circumstances, mood, and other factors. The researchers provided several recommendations, the most important of which was identifying the difficulties facing school principals in representing moral values. This should be done by the official authorities, who should also work to overcome these challenges and support the principals in promoting these values without obstacles.
