Abstract
The study aimed to identify the relationship between self-discrepancy and defense mechanisms in a sample of infertile women and the correlation between them. The study sample consisted of 205 infertile women, chosen using a convenience sampling method. The results indicated a high degree of self-discrepancy among these women, as well as a medium degree of defense mechanisms use. Furthermore, the study found a statistically significant relationship between self-discrepancy and defense mechanisms among infertile women. The study recommends the necessity of providing counseling programs for infertile women to reduce self-discrepancy and decrease the use of defense mechanisms.
