Abstract
The present study aimed to investigate the extent of using social networks for learning by Preparatory Year students at King Saud University and the obstacles they face in this usage. To achieve this aim, a questionnaire was developed, validated, and distributed by the researcher to (434) Preparatory Year students at King Saud University. The results revealed that the use of social networks by Preparatory Year students at King Saud University, as well as the obstacles for this use, are of average extent. The results also revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the extent of using social networks for learning attributed to academic track in favor of Health track compared to science-engineering and humanities tracks. The results also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the extent of using social networks for learning attributed to the period of membership in these networks. There were also no statistically significant differences in the obstacles for this use that can be attributed to the cademic track or to the period of membership in these networks.
