Abstract

This study aimed to explore the degree of using e learning by faculties’ members during teaching and learning, and the obstacles of their usage, in addition to identify the mechanisms of activating this usage from the perspective of post graduates and graduate students. A questionnaire was built and distributed on a sample of 312 individuals; 210 are postgraduates and 102 are graduates students. This study found that there is a gap between teaching courses in the traditional style and teaching courses with using e learning. Moreover, there is an average use of modern communication tools such as e-mail and social networking. The findings showed that there are moderate obstacles to the use of e learning by faculty members as follows: lack of following up the new technology in the field of e-learning, lack of incentives, and insufficient training in the field of e learning. This study included a set of mechanisms proposed to activate the use, most importantly are creating units within the university to support faculties’ members in this field. This study also introduces a new definition of e learning, which includes three new components.
