Abstract

The aim of the study is to evaluate the quality of special education preparation programs at Najran University in light of CAEP. Another aim is to identify differences in respondents' perceptions in light of their gender and evaluator. The sample of the study consisted of (75) subjects, of whom (27) were faculty members and (48) students from department of special education, faculty of education at Najran University. For data collection, a questionnaire was developed. The results of the study indicated that the evaluation level of the quality of special education preparation programs at Najran University in light of CAEP was moderate (M=2.17). Standard 4 (The impact of the program) ranked first, then standard 5(Quality assurance in the program and continuous improvement), and finally, standard 2 (Field training and professional practices). The results indicated statistically significant differences in the total means score due to gender, in favor of males; due to evaluator, in favor of faculty members. The study suggested some recommendations including the need for sustainable consideration to the requirements of evidences, practices in quality assurance standards used in special education educator preparation programs to achieve international standards.
