Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the reality of scientific research among the students of Najran University from perspectives of their faculty members. It also aimed to recognize if there were of statistically significant differences that could be attributed to the study variables. The study sample consisted of 99 faculty members with different academic positions of both males and females. To this end, a questionnaire was constructed consisting of (27) statements, distributed over three axes. The researcher has adopted the descriptive analytical approach. The results of the study indicate that the reality of scientific research among the students of Najran University from the perspectives of their faculty members was moderate, obtaining means of 1.88 on the Likert scale. The results of the study also showed that there were statistically significant differences that could be ascribed to the academic positions (Assistant professorship, associate professorship, and full professorship) over lectureship. The results of the study also showed that there were no statistically significant differences that could be attributed to the gender variable. However, the results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences that could be attributed to the major of the participants; scientific faculty members responses were highly significant than the humanitarian faculty members in the third axis entitles "university infrastructures that supported scientific research environment for students". The study recommended the need for in-depth discussions among faculty members on the development of strategies to enhance the relationship between teaching and scientific research in the teaching environment, and to raise awareness among both students and faculty members towards the importance of scientific research and provide them with material and moral support.
