Abstract
The aim of this qualitative study was to identify the social factors that led juveniles to commit the crime of aggravated sexual assault. The study relied on conducting in-depth interviews with juveniles arrested and convicted of aggravated sexual assault in the Ruseifa Juvenile Detention Center, and in Amman Juvenile Detention Center in Tabarbour. A comprehensive survey was used in the Ruseifa Juvenile Detention Center, and the number of juveniles in it was (5). A convenience sample was also used at the Juvenile Detention Center/ Amman in Tabarbour, and (7) juveniles out of (12) within (14-17) years old were interviewed. The results of the study reached a set of results, the most prominent of which is: that there is a set of social factors that led juveniles to commit the crime of aggravated sexual assault. Where children dropping out of school and heading to the labor market played a major role in their delinquency. The separation of parents and the absence of their supervision played a role in their deviation and committing the crime of aggravated sexual assault. In addition to the contribution of bad companions to the moral degeneration of juveniles that led to the perpetration of such a crime. In addition to the role of harmful information that may be provided to the juveniles by the Internet and social media, leading to corrupting their morals, whether directly or indirectly. The study recommended a set of recommendations, the most important of them are the role of state in reinforce the role of its institutions in necessity for children to receive education in the basic stages, and the necessity of children to be in a safe school environment that helps in their proper upbringing.
