Abstract
The research aims to evaluate the extent to which the explicit text of sustainability outcomes is indicated within the criteria for funding scientific research in Arab universities in general, and Sudanese and Saudi universities. The research was carried out using the comparative descriptive method. The most important results of this study were : Failure to explicitly mention the sustainability outcomes within the acceptance controls of research funding in Arab universities. Quantitative indicators indicate that the Saudi experience in research funding is the highest spent on scientific research compared to other Arab countries. There are structural and economic difficulties that hinder research funding in Sudanese universities, despite the quantitative increase in this funding in recent years . Among the most prominent recommendations of the research: The sustainability outcomes should be given an estimated quantitative weight within the criteria for funding scientific research. Directing the largest support to funding research projects of a transdisciplinary nature (sustainability sciences) and related to technology and innovation outcomes
