Abstract
The study aimed to identify the impact of using an educational program based on interactive multimedia software in the development of creative thinking skills of the second phase students in the subject of social studies in the Sultanate of Oman. The study sample was randomly selected of (60) students of the second phase from Mousa Ben Ali Primary School, The study sample was divided into two groups, The experimental group which consisted of (30) students, they were taught a unit (environmental problems and hazards) Using educational software, and the control group consisted of (30) students were taught unit (environmental problems and hazards) in the usual way, to achieve the objectives of the study, The researcher used the semi-experimental approach, and developed interactive multimedia-based learning software. The study used the Torrance test of creative thinking (verbal image) in the before and after application, after confirming validity and reliability, one of the main findings of the study, there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α 0.05≥) between the average scores of the two study groups, خn the test of creative thinking (fluency, flexibility, originality) for the benefit of the experimental group that studied using the educational software. The study recommended the need to hold training courses for teachers of social studies on the development of interactive multimedia-based educational software and employ them in the educational process because of their impact in the development of creative thinking skills in the social studies branches
