Abstract

The study aimed to identify the application degree of the governance principles in Jordanian universities from the perspective of faculty members. The descriptive approach was used, and a 28-sentence questionnaire was applied to a sample of 135 randomly selected members. The results showed that the level of application of governance principles in Jordanian universities came to a medium degree. At the level of fields, the field of regulations and instructions, and the field of independence reflected a high degree of application, while the field of accountability, the field of clarity and transparency, and the field of partnership reflected a medium degree of application. The results showed that there were significant differences in favor of females in the field of regulations and instructions, participation, and independence, and no significant differences in the field of clarity and transparency, accountability. The results did not show significant differences depending on the variable of university ownership in the field of regulations and instructions, clarity and transparency, and independence. However, it found differences in favor of private universities in the areas of accountability, accountability, and participation. The results also revealed significant differences according to the college variable in all fields of study. The study recommended building an education governance guide to disseminate the culture of governance and introduce it, its principles and requirements. And by forming a specialized council in universities on behalf of the Board of Trustees of Governance. Enhancing the culture of accountability and accountability in Jordanian universities. And allocating part of the universities’ budget to conduct more research and studies in the field of governance.
