Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the degree to which the science textbook for the seventh grade in Jordan included the habits of mind according to Project (2061). To achieve the aim of the study, the researcher used the content analysis method, where a content analysis tool was developed to monitor the five main habits of mind that emerged from the American Association for the Advancement of Science: AAAS Project (2061): “Values and Attitudes,” “Computation and Estimation,” “Manipulation and Observation,” “Communication and Communication Skills,” and Critical response skills, the validity and reliability of the tool have been verified. The study sample consisted of the same population, which is the science textbook for the seventh grade, which is scheduled by the Ministry of Education for the academic year (2020-2021). The results showed an imbalance in including the habits of mind in the seventh-grade science textbook, where the inclusion of the book contains habits of mind (communication and communication skill, values and attitudes skill, Manipulation and Observation) with a greater percentage than the habits of mind (critical response skill, Computation, and Estimation skills).
