Abstract

The study aimed to identify the extent to which school extracurricular activities contribute to combating extremism by identifying the nature and types of extracurricular activities, recognizing the importance of extra-curricular activities in the learning process, and highlighting the importance of extra-curricular activities in combating extremism. To achieve these goals, the study relied on the descriptive analytical approach. The study revealed that extracurricular activities have an important and effective role in confronting extremism through creating harmony and social interaction among the students participating in those activities, Raising their self-confidence and the ability to deal with others, facing different social conditions and situations, enhancing belonging and loyalty, raising the values of citizenship, strengthening national identity, and being proud of the country, land, people and system, qualifying students to perform their various roles as supportive citizens and participants in the process of comprehensive national development, and providing them with a knowledgeable, conceptual, value-skilled reference that enables them to commit to democratic citizenship and civilized behavior. In light of the results obtained, the study recommended developing awareness among teachers, school administration, students and their parents of the importance of extra-curricular activities and their role in confronting extremism.
